Must Read for All Traders: Stop Obsessing Over Profits

When I started trading, I was obsessed with one thing:

How much profit I was making.

It felt like every green day wasn’t “green enough.”
I’d force trades.
I’d chase moves.
And instead of making more…
I’d end up giving it all back.

Sound familiar?

Profit Chasing = Emotional Trading

Here’s what I learned the hard way:

  • Forcing trades kills consistency.
  • Chasing numbers leads to emotional decisions.
  • Focusing on “enough profit” is a trap.

When you chase profit, you ignore the two things that actually matter:

  1. Process
  2. Risk

Focus on What You Can Control

These days, my only focus is this:

  • Is my risk calculated?
  • Are my losses pre-planned?
  • Is my drawdown in check?

Because here’s the reality:
You can’t control profit.

Some days will be massive.
Some days will be breakeven.
Some days will be tiny.
Market conditions decide that—not you.

But what you can control is:

  • Your risk per trade
  • Your drawdown
  • Your discipline

Most Traders Have It Backwards

Most people obsess over how much they could make.
But completely ignore how much they could lose.

That’s how traders blow up accounts.
That’s how you turn a red day into a red week.

If you don’t control risk, the market will control you.

Stop chasing the perfect green day.
Start mastering your process.
Dial in your risk.

Because if you build the habits,
the profit will take care of itself.
